Radical watch fans drooling over Rolex and Omega have long held a heated debate over which company is a better movement maker. It would be too arrogant for anyone to settle this debate to an end, so now let me just share my personal opinion on this topic.

Compared with 3135, Omega Caliber 1120 was cast into the shade from technical aspect. The 1120, using a modified ETA and the Etachron adjustment screw, would be less accurate without any accuracy adjustment than a conservative design of adjustment screws on the balance wheel.
Rolex also has smartly incorporated a freely sprung balance into the caliber 3135, while 1120 adopts the regulated balance. Freely sprung balance is applied by most high end watch makers, and Omega is not exclusive with Caliber 2500, which is the next generation of the Caliber 1120. KIF shock protection system which shares a lot of similarities to the ETA Incabloc shock protection system inbuilt in the 1120 is adopted by Rolex to give better protection against timing mistakes from sudden movement. The two systems are almost identical, with a bit difference in design.
